Cover Reveal and Release Day Blitz for Second Chances by NJ Cole

Cover Design: T.m. Franklin
Genre: Erotica/Romance/Short Story

Summary:

Calla Moretti married her college sweetheart, Bill. Married life was great at first, but as his career had her dropping out of college and moving away from her family and friends, Calla struggled with her role as a wife and homemaker. Stress, due to infertility and Bill’s affairs, had the marriage on the brink of failure.
When she drives home in the middle of a thunderstorm and spots first a broken down motorcycle, then the sexy rider, she decides to take a chance and offer him assistance. Realizing fate brought her together with a man who could give her the one thing her husband couldn’t—a baby—Calla decides to take a chance.
One romantic night, one big lie, will it save her marriage or fill her heart with more emptiness? Will this be the answer to her prayers? In life, are there truly second chances?

Excerpt:

Staring into my eyes, he lowered his head. I could have moved, spoken, coughed…anything, but instead I lifted my chin and allowed him to kiss me.
At first it was chaste, it really was, but when I didn’t pull away, he didn’t either. I felt his tongue poke from between his velvet lips and lick over my lower one. I gasped, and he used that opportunity to find his way into my mouth. As my body began to shake, I groaned. I had to stop this. If I didn’t, I’d end up having sex with him—a total stranger. I knew that because I was ovulating, if I did sleep with him, there was a good chance that I’d become pregnant.
     I’d become pregnant.
I had stiffened up at my epiphany, causing him to pull back. “Oh, shit. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”
My mind was racing with the possibility of becoming pregnant tonight. I could go home to Bill in the morning and he and I could have sex. He’d think the baby was his, and maybe it would be, I reasoned with myself. He’d never know and our marriage would be fixed.

Andrea's Review of Faltering by Julia Danes

Series: Faltering, Book 1
Genre: New Adult/Erotica/Romance

Synopsis:

One exotic location, one sex-filled week, one secret to hide ...

Bad luck. Emma's life has been full of it lately. Art history graduate student, Emma Gardner, was looking for adventure, not to fall in love. But when she's abandoned by her best friend and stranded in a foreign country without cash or a passport, she's out of options and doesn't know where to turn. She's ready to give up her dreams and head home.

A challenge. Alec Hawthorne is every woman's fantasy. He's gorgeous, charming, sexy, and used to getting what he wants. So when he spots Emma, alone and in trouble, he can't resist pursuing her.

Consuming desire. Emma didn't plan on finding romance while studying abroad, but that doesn't stop her from being seduced by Alec's intense, demanding charms. The instant, burning attraction that ignites between them is more than either of them bargained for.

Difficult choices. When Emma finds out the secret Alec's been keeping can she learn to trust him again? Is Alec willing to give up everything to be with Emma?

Andrea's Review:

I am a sucker for any story with a naive girl and a sexy, powerful man. Adding the exotic location of Cairo to the story, I’m a goner.

We first meet Emma when she's saying goodbye to her friend and preparing for an adventure of a lifetime. A few bumps in her road to that adventure puts her directly in Alec Hawthorne’s path. Like Emma, I was instantly drawn to Alec. Even in the stifling heat of Cairo, Alec exudes sex and power. He is equally drawn to Emma and her beauty. Offering Emma what is sure to be a life changing week in his world, Alec sets in motion a series of events that will be life changing for both.

I loved the dynamic and ease of Emma and Alec. While their attraction is evident from the beginning, they each seem to bring something out in the other that nobody else has been able to—the ability to just be. To just be him/herself. To just be in the moment. To just be with each other.

When they say something is too good to be true, nothing is more evident than the evolving relationship between Emma and Alec. Each is harboring a secret and a past that complicates their already complicated relationship. While Emma’s secret is a betrayal and hurt bestowed upon her by her first love, Alec’s secret runs much deeper and threatens both of their futures.

I absolutely loved this story. Completely and utterly entranced by the dynamics of these characters, I was torn between cheering them on and fearing they would break each other. Watching them fall in love and each knowing that they shouldn’t was heartbreaking. I felt every emotion between these characters and cannot wait to watch their story unfold.

Hollywood Sins
by
N.K. Smith
Release Date: July 10, 2014
Summary:
Public spectacles, private breakdowns, and terrible choices. How can a beloved Hollywood star feel so unloved?
Twenty-four year old Adra Willows grew up in the spotlight, but navigating the shark infested waters of show business doesn’t get easier with age. Constantly comparing herself to others, Adra has experienced mild success but nothing like the achievement of one of her best friends.
With her manager giving her questionable advice and her relationship with a leading comedic actor on the rocks, Adra finds herself at the crossroads of Virtue and Vice. She can either continue along the path of taking roles that showcase her body instead of her acting skills or she can forge ahead of her competition, ignore the wishes of her manager, and make her own decisions.
The red carpet of life is lined with virtue and vice, but which side will the actress choose to walk along?

Excerpt: “So what are we doing here? Hopefully you don’t think filming on our day off would be the key to my heart.” I don’t know why I say it like that. Peter’s not trying to get my heart. He’s got Shyla’s. He’s just being a friend, and I don’t think I could handle him as anything more. No, I could. What I couldn’t handle is losing him, and at this rate, I’d probably lose him.
“I’ve always known the key to your heart is something that has nothing to do with filming and Hollywood stuff.”
A little knot in my stomach forms, and I press my free hand against it as we walk around a small building. If I was truly a brave and independent woman, I would squeeze his hand and tell him that I love him. I would tell him that there is but one key to my heart, and he already has it. He always has. Only, it takes more than a key to get to my heart. It’s not just locked. There are purposefully placed walls and barbed wire surrounding it, and even a worthy person who can crack through anything would find it difficult to get in there to even use the key.
“I love you,” I whisper. Peter stops. His eyes are narrow and his lips are still. His silence makes the knot in my belly grow bigger. Shit. “I mean, you’re a great friend, Peter. I’m glad we could hang out today.” I paste on a practiced grin and roll my eyes. “Even if I don’t know what the hell we’re doing.”
The serious look on Peter’s face hasn’t faded. I look away. “Adra,” he says in the softest voice I’ve ever heard come from him.
I’m not an independent woman. Who the hell am I kidding? I’m a scared little kid, and I don’t think I can handle his rejection. I mean, he won’t make fun of the fact that I just said I loved him, but he’ll take it seriously, and then he’ll tell me about how he’s with someone else and how we can’t ruin our friendship by taking it in a romantic direction. Or he’ll tell me that while I’m his friend, I’m just not the right type of person to be his girlfriend. I can’t deal with that, so I tug on his hand. “Come on, let’s go.”
He resists at first, but then lets me pull him into a steady pace.
“Where are we going?” I laugh, and then let him take the lead. This all feels unnatural. I hate my fake laugh, and I’m sure Peter can tell.
“Right here.” He raises both of our hands to point to an administrative building. A golf cart is parked out front, but I already know he’s not pointing at that. He’s pointing to the bike with a basket on the back.
“Seriously?” I ask.
“Yep.”
I walk to the bike and can hear him follow. “There’s only one.”
He places a hand on the handlebars and one on the seat. “I’ll be careful with you. I promise.”

Summary:
Ruthless People: Book I

To the outside world, they look like American Royalty, giving to charities, feeding the homeless, rebuilding the city. But behind closed doors is a constant battle for dominance between two Bosses, cultures, and hearts.

Ruthless People is a romantic crime fiction set in modern day Chicago, and follows the life and marriage of Melody Giovanni and Liam Callahan—rivals by blood and leaders through fear. Their marriage, arranged by their fathers in hopes to end years of bloodshed between the Irish and the Italians.

Liam believes he’s getting a simple-minded wife, one he can control, one who bends to his every need . . . the complete opposite of Melody. She knows exactly what type of man he is, and would rather die than give up the power she has spent her life building.

The Mafia of the past has evolved, and with rival bosses gunning for them, Melody and Liam will have to learn to work as one to take down those who stand in their way.

1 Marriage x 2 Bosses = 3x the Chaos

Excerpt: “And you feel nothing.” “And I feel nothing,” I repeated. He looked me in the eyes, and I hoped to God he understood, because I didn’t know how else to explain it. It was that kind of thinking that made it easy for me to sleep at night. “Neither do I,” he said, and I believed him. I tried to move, but he grabbed on to my sides and held me in place. There was that look in his eyes—the hunger, the lust, and the caged animal dying to get out. Pulling me even closer, he pressed himself against me. “L—” Before I could even speak his lips were on mine and he was pulling at my clothes. With his one good arm, he cupped my ass and the other one cupped my breast as he rubbed himself against me. His lips hummed against my neck before he lifted me up, throwing me on the bed. He stopped for only a second to look me over, and the storm in his eyes raged worse than I had ever seen. “This is your one and only chance to tell me to stop.”

Cover Reveal for Queen of Hearts by Jami Denise

presents a cover reveal for:

Queen of Hearts (Book 2 in the Jayne Series) by Jami Denise

Summary:

With a broken heart and nothing to lose, Jayne King leaves Las Vegas, running from the only man she ever loved. He used her. Lied to her. Got her father killed. Cost her everything.
All she wants is to start over somewhere new and escape her past. She finally finds a place to plant roots, and someone she can trust. But she should’ve known that when Flynn said he’d never give up on her, he meant it. Just when she thinks she’s safe after almost a year on the run, the past catches up with her and she finds out that everything she believed in was false. Once again, she’s caught up in a game—but this time, she intends to win. After all, the queen always beats a spade.
Flynn Maguire always got what he wanted, until he fell in love with Jayne King. He has no intentions of letting her get away, but with a woman like Jayne, he knows he’s got to play his cards just right. He had no choice but to watch her walk out of his life, but he planned on getting her back at any cost, including taking down his own father. He soon finds out there is nothing more dangerous than a woman scorned.

Excerpt #1:

As I stood outside of his suite, my nerves started to take over. As brave as I wanted to be, I knew seeing him face to face was going to be rough. It had to be done, and I had to be strong, so I squared my shoulders, rolled my neck, and beat on the door with my knuckles before I chickened out.
The door flew open, and I realized he wasn’t alone. My heart thundered under my rib cage and I almost passed out.
     “Can I help you?”
I blinked away the confusion and focused on the bimbo in front of me. Again, I wasn’t surprised there was a woman in his room. Typical. But the look on her face and the tone of her voice brought me back to the present and the reason I was there. I wasn’t a jealous ex-girlfriend, I was the dark angel of his demise. That bitch was nothing to me.
     “No, you can’t.”
I pushed past her and walked into the room like I owned it. I wasn’t going to let anyone in that room stop me.
I spotted him right away, sitting across the room in the midst of a poker game. A trashy brunette sat perched on his knee, while another stood behind him, rubbing his shoulders. He made me sick. He looked up and it was as if he’d been hit with the brunt of a gun against his temple. Pure and utter shock.
He was a caricature of the man I’d fallen in love with. Still beautiful, but something black had seeped through. You could sense it immediately. The eyes that smoldered dark with lust were shadowed and sullen on his face like tiny ghosts watching the world turn while they battled the pain behind them.
A visceral pain shot through me. If only things had been different. Had he been the man I thought he was, everything could’ve been beautiful. But, those things happened. Those lies were weaved and the betrayal was real. He hurt me, cracking every bone inside of me and left wounds that would never heal. I’d always be broken. Always a little crooked. I’d never trust in anything completely again.
He stood, swatting away the brunette, and gripped the arms of the chair to steady his unsure legs. I could feel the eyes of every person in the room, but I couldn’t look away from him. It was surreal, after all that time how much he affected me. Still.
     “Janie,” he choked out.
His lips let my name escape, but I could see that he couldn’t believe I was standing there, that I’d barged into his room like a phantom, a deep, dark secret from his past.

Excerpt #2: Queen of Hearts

Sleep was hard to come by. As the weeks went on, things between Jack and me had fallen into a routine of evading and comfortable avoidance. He hadn’t pushed for me to move in with him again, or even mentioned it for that matter. He just somehow understood that I needed time to figure out my issues.
I used that time without him. I dug deep and ticked off all the pros and cons and analyzed my reasons for running off after my dad and Vince died, and came to terms with my decision to stay with him as long as I had.
My conclusions weren’t easy to take.
I was a coward and a liar. Simple as that.
Jack had become my cushion; my tiny dilapidated motel room became the fortress that held my demons on the outside. The small town was a Mecca for all the things I thought I was missing out on and wanted in my life.
But it wasn’t. It was as solid of a trap as my previous life had been. I’d fallen into the same pattern, only a different outcome. I’d settled on a dismal job because it was easy, a hole in the wall motel because it was cheap, and a false relationship because it fed my insecurities and my fear of being alone.
I still had no idea where I fit in. I still wondered where I belonged, what I wanted. That mask I’d donned for as long as I could remember was still strapped to my skull, embedded into my skin with a grip so tight I thought I’d suffocate.
Coming to terms with the cold, hard facts was a blow for sure. I knew I would eventually go back to Vegas. It was inevitable. I wasn’t sure I’d stay, but I had to return and deal with the aftermath of what went down. The death of my family, the deceit from Flynn, my business, and most importantly, to face the ghosts that wouldn’t leave my mind.
     Doyle Maguire.
That man had to pay, one way or another.
I could just picture that rat bastard sitting on his throne with a big shit-eating grin on his face, satisfied that he’d taken us down.
He had, to an extent. My father withered and died at his hand, he’d chased me off, and taken everything Vince had, including his life.
But, he was in for a surprise. I still had some fight in me. The more I pulled back the curtains and looked out the window of my mind, it was coming back. I was stronger than I gave myself credit for, and running off with my tail between my legs had never been my style. I’d slithered away, snuck off with the excuse of starting over, but in reality, I’d never stood my ground the way I should have.
It was time to bolster the courage to take the jerk to war.
